Equine Assisted Learning
Freedom Ride offers a mental wellness program known as Equine Facilitated Learning (EFL). EFL breaks through resistance, increases motivation, and offers a serene, non-clinical environment rarely present in traditional talk therapy for both the therapist and the client.

How Does It Work?

Equine therapy breaks through resistance, increases motivation, and offers a "fun-factor" rarely present in traditional talk therapy. Equine therapy empowers people to find hope in healing and solutions for life's challenges.

This effective therapy has the added element of a unique creature, the horse, who is a master at reading body language, intent and emotion. The complete and honest feedback of the horse is the special ingredient that makes EFL so powerful.

For each human being that is suffering from a loss or traumatic experience - the horses will take a fresh approach to what is needed most or least by that person and their situation. The horses also help to keep us focused on the individuality of the healing process.

Why Horses?

A horse's entire perception of a person is behavior-based. Words are not important to the horse but only the person's body language, methods of coping, and approach. The nature of the horse and its ability to experience a wide range of human emotions creates an instant horse/human connection and the opportunity for a life-changing metaphor.

Like people, horses are herd-oriented (relationships) and have distinct roles within that herd. Horses are also prey animals and are distinctly aware of their surroundings. It is this characteristic that keeps them safe, helps them interact with other horses, and causes them to be excellent co-therapists. The majority of human interaction is non-verbal. Horses read this 93% of human behavior with impeccable accuracy. Most importantly, horses live in a behavior-based society.

"Within the warmth of my horse's breath,
I will find the air that I need to live today,
I will find the wind to fly to the height of my dreams,
I will find the one I am meant to be"
